Welcome to Chourongee
Chourongee is a registered non-profit, non-political, community organization established in the year 2008 with the purpose and vision to serve and strengthen the cultural, spiritual, educational and literary needs of all the resident Bengalis and bengali loving people of Utah. The desire to cradle and nurture our rich culture even outside our homeland provided the impetus for the formation of this Association. The bengali families in Utah had informally kept the pujas and traditions alive for the last 10 years.
We had an interim committee start this endeavour and as they say " the rest is history". With the change in people and generation a new group of members are trying to make it bigger and better especially for a sizable expatriate Bengali community made up of students, educationists, scientists, IT specialists, financial experts, medical specialists, regional directors of multinational corporation and so on. We launched our First Magazine last year during the Durga Puja called "Tuli Kolom". We hope to grow and prosper with all the support and love we have seen in the past years.
Mission Statement
To embrace and spread the "soul" of Bengal in this distant land, to create a home away from home. Chourongee commits to preserve Bengal's rich culture, history and heritage, bring to life its traditions and values through community events, social activities, music ,dance, drama and food. To provide a unified platform for its members to share and express and rejoice in who they are and what they stand for.
